The Leftist Alliance

The Leftist Alliance (VA) is a student organization with values based in antiracism, socialism, and feminism. We fights for a more environmentally friendly, equal and solidaric university for all students. Our goals include such as a more democratic and equal society, and especially university. The university should be a space where everyone can express themselves, and not be oppressed by their sexual orientation, color of their skin, disability, class and/or gender.. 

What matters to us:

Basic support over the poverty line. We in LA believe that students live in precarious economic situation. Almost daily there are news of increasing food- and power bills. LA believes that we receive too little support from Lånekassen to keep up with prices, and many feel the need to get a job. LA wants the possibility of being a fulltime student to return, and therefore demand basic support above the poverty line.

Affordable and better SiO. We in LA believe that SiO could be greatly improved. Not only are housing costs too high for many students, but for many the canteens are not very varied and very expensive. Therefore LA demands an affordable and better SiO. This includes lower barriers for reimbursement, lower housing costs, as well as cheaper and more varied canteens.

Solidarity with Palestinian students. The Leftist Allianse believe that UiO does not do enough to express support for Palestinian students and that UiO should do more. We demand an academic boycott of Israel, as well as a general boycott of Israeli goods on all of UiOs campuses.
